Project Description

Training Points is a small independent Fitness & Therapy Studio created in 2007, when Taylor Battery &Mathilde Theill qualified as Personal Trainers & Sports Massage Therapist. They started out in Sydenham, where they trained clients at their little studio, in the parks and in the gym.

In January 2009, they opened their first official Fitness Studio in Crystal Palace, where they built their business for the coming 6 years. The key to their dream studio landed in their hands on May 2014, they moved into Coopers Yard, within the Crystal Palace Triangle.

Training Points studio is a welcoming, safe, warm and positive space for anyone who visits. They pride themselves in giving their clients apersonal fitness experience. Class numbers are small compared to commercial gyms but they have a lovely sense of community that their clients appreciate and have become part of creating. The studio is staffed with a vast range of Natural Therapists, Personal Trainers, Pilates & Yoga Teachers.

The Challenge

Pylon Design were commissioned to attract the general public to visit the studio. The position of this fantastic building and it’s facilities, situated at the bottom of a small, quiet hill, is impossible to see from the main road. No signs were allowed to be fixed to buildings, sandwich boards were constantly stolen or vandalised which resulted in the general public being unaware of this delightful, personal fitness studio.

The Solution

Pylon Design suggested Training Points approach the church at the top of the hill to ask if they could hang a banner on their railings to guide people down the hill. The church agreed, and although not the most ideal solution, it is the best position available. Utilising the strong vibrant corporate colours and simple typography to attract the attention of the general public, Pylon created a banner that caught the eye in terms of the message and their identity. The solution, although simple, has increased the footfall and consequently the membership and usage of the gym with the variety of classes it runs. Coupled with other posters and literature designed and produced by Pylon Design, this fitness studio is a thriving local business that is continuing to grow in the Crystal Palace area.
