Each year less than £10 per child in the UK is spent on research into children’s health, yet 1 in 30 babies is born with a condition that may affect them for life. As a leading children’s medical research charity, Sparks are dedicated to funding pioneering research that will change this for children and their families.
They work in four areas: pregnancy and birth, first months of life, early childhood and rare diseases.
Since 1991, they have funded over 270 research projects in more than 80 hospitals and universities.
A new brochure to attract sponsors and funds for Sparks Innovation fund campaign. Needed to explain exactly what the campaign is about, its aims and why they needed help. The brochure had to be confident and ‘take risks’ but it also had to be professional so that people would feel happy and comfortable in supporting Sparks.
Using an external copywriter, we introduced a theme of ‘Taking Risks’ throughout the document which summed up what the campaign was all about. We developed a series of silhouette illustrations based on risk taking in normal life experiences and wrote appropriate copy to accompany them. Different treatments of text to highlight information and strong corporate colours helped to create an innovative brochure that helped to raise a lot of money for Sparks Innovation Fund.
