Project Description

The Oakbridge Federation encourages, as well as promotes, the very best traditional values. They pride themselves on their ability to achieve better than average results across the board. Crucial to this success is the excellent behaviour and positive thinking that they actively encourage from all their pupils. Above all else, they have high expectations of not just the pupils but also the staff. Achieving high levels of reading, writing and mathematics for all their pupils are key priorities.

The school’s nurturing commitment in encouraging their children to persevere in their aspirations, show respect to others, be responsible learners and to always try their best is paramount to life at Oakbridge.

The Challenge

Pylon were approached to solve an interesting challenge that the school faced on a daily basis. The two schools had separate, independent websites that needed to share a considerable quantity of common content. Both school websites suffered from inconsistency as keeping them both up to date and consistent required two separate teams to do the same updates at the same time. Far from ideal. The new school website required the bringing together of two existing school sites under a single, new Federation website – no mean feat.

The client also requested that the new site was to present the Federation as a smart and professional educational organisation and move away from it’s previous child-focussed, playful front-end user experience.

The Solution

Pylon Design were initially commissioned to execute a complete rebrand for the two schools and the new Federation itself. Using the new colours and branding, the delivered site visually differentiates school-specific content from content common to both. The site integrates two well promoted MailChimp subscriber lists, blog subscriptions and upcoming events to the homepage to keep parents well informed of school life. Class pages and surrounding content are contextually relevant to the class/year group and hence a focal point for existing parents visiting the site.

As well as all school correspondence being centralised to a single location, it is simultaneously distributed to relevant additional locations site-wide. The new Federation branding – including the federation and school logos and colours, consistent, bespoke web typography and clean layouts, is used across the site to give a smart and professional appearance.
