Funerals are never easy occasions to attend or to organise. Pylon Design were asked to come up with an idea of a gift to be handed out to the congregation with the bespoke Order of Service Funeral Booklet for the funeral of Mark and Jean. Mark and Jean were married for nearly 61 years and when they passed away just two days between each other, this was truly ‘A Lifetime of Love’.
Due to the close proximity of Mark and Jean’s deaths, the family decided to have a dual funeral and the complexity of bringing together, and celebrating, two lives was a real challenge. The gift idea had to be in keeping with the funeral service, be respectful but also have a meaning and purpose that encompassed what Mark and Jean were all about.
Pylon Design knew that gardening was a real passion of Mark and Jean’s so they suggested a pack of flower seeds to hand out to everyone. Mark and Jean’s garden was always pristine but they also had a real adventure about them and visited many countries through their life together. Pylon Design suggested a pack of wild flower seeds that could be scattered anywhere as a remembrance to Mark and Jean. Beautiful flowers, lots of colour, good for wildlife and a sense of freedom, all typified their personalities and what they were about. Pylon Design sourced some small envelopes and created an image to go on the front which included their initials and continued the love theme with the strapline – Grow the Love. The illustration was produced in-house as a linocut, befitting the style of the gift. A simple but thoughtful gift that people can enjoy for years and remember the lives of Mark and Jean.
