Grinling Gibbons Primary school is part of the Grinling Gibbons and Lucas Vale Federation (GGLV) located in Lewisham, South London. The goals and ambitions of the staff and governors is to make sure that they are at the forefront of innovative learning experiences, ensuring they deliver a world class education for all of their children.
Grinling Gibbons Primary School is a diverse learning community that provides the best possible support in helping its pupils to achieve their best. Pupils and staff are highly motivated and firmly believe in learning together, in partnership with families. Children are at the centre of their priorities. They are a values based community striving to ensure they develop the education of the whole child. Their creative curriculum is designed to foster curiosity and develop motivation and habits that encourage their children to be life long learners.
The Challenge
Grinling Gibbons had no real identity to engage pupils, family, staff and the local community. The school needed its own look and a sense of belonging and being part of the local area. Apart from the GGLV logo there was nothing to link both Grinling Gibbons and Lucas Vale Primary Schools as being part of the Federation. The school needed to portray themselves much better to encourage parents to want to send their children to Grinling Gibbons and be proud of this within the community.
The Solution
By introducing the image of an anchor to both symbolise strength and longevity, and also relating it to the historical aspect of the local area, Pylon were able to give the school an identity and brand that is attractive and professional that can be developed further in the future. Strong typography, bold colours and an approachable illustrative style that was also used on the Lucas Vale logo has helped to link the two schools together and endorse they are part of the GGLV Federation.
