Project Description

Conisborough College is a purpose built campus which opened in 2009. Students benefit from state of the art technologies and resources including a very generous computer/student ratio; a purpose built sports hall, dance studio and fitness room as well as an astroturf outside. We have specialist teaching rooms for textiles, music, art, design technology and science.

The school is offering unique opportunities to all its students as they strive to raise standards across all areas of learning and personal development, allowing every student to achieve everything they are capable of. Conisborough College are passionate about making a difference to the lives of their young people, ensuring that they have every opportunity to succeed by identifying and nurturing each one’s individual talents.

The aim of all staff is to provide all students with inspiring opportunities and experiences supported with careful monitoring, reporting and assessment. The students bring with them a diversity of experiences and backgrounds both socially and culturally and the school community is built on the strengths of this local diversity.

The Challenge

Following the successful completion of extensive building works to the entrance of the college, Pylon Design were asked to design and install a fascia to the front of the existing canopy. The unusual location of the canopy which overhung a flight of steps leading upto the entrance, made it awkward to get access to the fascia. The fascia needed to be visible from the main road and follow the recent corporate identity previously designed by Pylon Design.

The Solution

The new Conisborough College logo and brand had been rolled out and applied to a number of items by Pylon Design. The long but narrow shape of the fascia had an impact on what graphics Pylon Design could apply to the structure. Due to this size and shape, Pylon Design incorporated the school name as big as possible using the distinctive corporate typeface on a background of the main school colour. The letters were individually constructed on 3mm di-bond material and powder coated white to give maximum impact, both close-up and at distance. The visual strength of the fascia which, immediately endorsed the school’s brand, and the 3mm depth of the individual lettering which added further depth, resulted in a successful and striking entrance when entering the building.
